Brass and Bead Quilt Work Squares
I've been wanting to make these earrings for a while. The design had been waiting patiently in my sketchbook for the last couple years. I started my artistic journey working with fibre - knitting, embroidery, sewing. Beadwork is a continuation of that work for me - contemplative stitching with thread - and I've always wanted to do a design reminiscent of quilted blocks. As we head into the fall, quilts are in order, so here is the first one!
Glass beads of purple, pink, and white form squares that are punctuated by a border of luminous golden aura borealis lavender beads. One of my all time favourite bead colours, which I use sparingly so as to always have them in my stash. Looking at them, you won't know they are lavender, but trust my friend - they are subtle colour shifters. Here they pick up the warm glow of the hand fabricated brass squares.
Accompanied by 14kt gold fill ear wires.
Lovingly hand fabricated with attention to detail in my home studio in St.Albert, Canada.
