5.75 - Reticulated Silver, Sapphire and 24kt Keum Boo Ring
Made as a sample for my diploma in fine jewellery, this one of a kind ring is all the things. Dark but also shimmery, bold and wide while also delicate and feminine. Much in the way we all hold harmonious and unique contradictions within ourselves - the way we are each all of the things.
I love this ring for its character and uniqueness, its grit and texture, it's flash of gold.
The wide band (approx 1cm), is made with reticulated sterling silver (metal that is heated almost to the melting point repeatedly to bring up that lovely, unique and unrepeatable surface texture). Reticulating the sterling silver brings the fine silver to the surface allowing for the application of 24kt keum boo gold sheet on either side of the stone.
Keum Boo is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver.
The stone itself is a lovely neutral coloured rose cut sapphire - completely natural and untreated. The silver is oxidised with a dark patina to show off the gold and the texture.
Because of the wide band, this ring will best fit a finger that sits a little under a size 6. If you are a size 5.75 in a slim ring band, this one should fit quite nicely. I tried to make it a 7 so I could wear it, but I guess it wanted to belong to you ;)
Lovingly hand fabricated with attention to detail in my home studio in St.Albert, Canada. Ready to Ship.
